Omar is an architect, artist, and musician. He started learning the Oud in 2016 transitioning from classical guitar. He took master courses with virtuoso Oud player, Nazih Borish in Montreal. He was born in Damascus, Syria, and landed as a refugee in Canada in 2017.

Teaching & Other Details
The instructor will tailor courses specific to the individual's knowledge about the instrument. My aim is to make you fall in love with the instrument like I did when I first started learning. The beginner course will introduce you to the instrument history, the right posture to play and hold the Oud, tunning, Maqamat introduction exercises to get familiar with the fretless board, music theory, fingers positions, and picking patterns and techniques. For students who don't have an instrument, the instructor will provide a training Oud and a Reeshe (Oud plectrum) for a deposit that is refundable when the student returns the Oud to the instructor. For best outcomes, it is best that the student have their own instrument. Minimum 1.5 hours per session
