I feel that my role as a teacher should not only be to deliver content to students, it should be based upon a system of inspiration and igniting a desire for lifelong learning. I feel that the classroom should be an equitable environment where students feel safe, yet are able to explore new ideas and concepts that may not be familiar to them. A positive classroom environment should provide the students with the tools to pursue a productive and enriching path of ongoing learning, which in turn will allow them to become responsible contributing members of society. I feel that every teacher has a professional obligation to improve their teaching practises and create an equitable environment and nurture every student’s capability for growth in the classroom. I also believe that it is crucial for every teacher to strive to say current with today’s technological and educational practices. An educator should demonstrate ongoing personal and professional growth by participating in career long learning opportunities.
