Teaching & Other Details
My main philosophy as a teacher is to listen to the student. I would assist them whether they need help with technique, theory or learning their favourite music. For students who are just beginners and don't know where to start, I would inspire them in my own way by introducing the basic playing techniques and working their way up while introducing them to new music and approaches to play. My lessons are usually conducted as follows. I begin with a series of warmup exercises followed by scales and arpeggios. Then the last half is spent with music repertoire of the students choice or mine. Lessons plans are sometimes flexible as I may let the student lead the lesson by answering their questions or having them bring material to the lessons they need assistance with.
Availability
My schedule for the most part is flexible and subject to change. My mornings and afternoons are usually my best times. My evenings are usually busy but sometimes can be accommodated for steady lesson periods and are good for making up missed lesson times.
Preferred Teaching Place
Students in or near the Vancouver, B.C. area can take lessons in my home studio, in their own home or online via Skype. Lessons for students outside Vancouver are conducted via Skype. Groups lessons are done over Zoom or in my home studio depending on space and distance. For K-12 music students located in or near Vancouver, I can give lessons during their free periods in their school's music class room depending on its availability and the staff's approval.
