The "No Theory" Hands-On approach starting from day one. Students are taught practical methods of playing the guitar. They are taught the basic components of the guitar. How to tune it. How to read Tablature and chord charts to what the string names are. Student's are taught right off the bat to play simple riffs from popular rock songs they recognize such as Come as You Are by NIRVANA or Heathens by Twenty-One Pilots . Essentially, students are shown practical methods of teaching themselves. I show students how to learn. Due to my background in Child and Youth Work I am most effective working with kids and youth. Also because I have a youthful appearance I'm not seen as a big old authority figure type Teacher drilling scales and instructions at them but rather a peer .

I've been playing for over thirty years. Familiar with playing in bands and solo acoustic gigs. Was the opening act at Javapoloza 1999! In Surrey BC.

Start with an easy NIRVANA song. They are taught the basic components of the guitar. How to tune it. How to read Tablature and chord charts to what the string names are. By learning cool and popular riffs the students interest is maintained all while strengthening the fingers and learning power chords and notes.
