My name is Richard Kahl. I have played and taught the guitar professionally for over 40 years. 1) Every Student is different. I individualize lessons based on the student's age, level of ability and what he or she wants to get out of the experience. There are students who hate to play scales others love it. One wants to play a Taylor Swift song another Metallica. Some want to sing themselves. Each students lesson plan is unique. 2) Never, Never talk down to the students...Only Positive Reinforcement. 3) Set Achievable Goals !!! Set each student up to succeed by never giving homework that's too difficult. The more they succeed the more they enjoy the lessons. When they fail......

Professional Experience
I played over 2000 shows with the well known Canadian Rolling Stones Tribute Band “the Blushing Brides” between 1985 & 2008. I have done over 15 albums for “Classic Albums Live” organization and also play with “the Dylan Tree, a Celebration of the Bob Dylan Song Book”. I play and teach both electric and acoustic guitar. I can also teach basic music reading and theory if the student wishes to learn those skills. I have completed book one of the William Leavitt guitar course used at Berklee. I have experience teaching both adults and children (6 and up) and with children with special needs (adhd and autism)

Preferred Teaching Place
I would prefer that the lesson be at my apt....But I currently travel to students homes and I expect to continue to teach in their homes.
